What is even stranger than what happens if the first few minutes of your birth, is how you get "elisted" in one group or another, whether you like it or not.

The moment you are born, automatically someone has jurisdiction on you. They tell you that you are an American or Chinese and all of the sudden you have to take the side of 300+ million people or 1.4 billion people, that you never met, you most likely do not agree with, and honestly, you might not give a damn about. In the United States, Hillary Clinton (2016 presidential candidate and the wife of former US president Bill Clinton), called the "other half of America" (Trump supporters) deplorables. These are her country men and women and these are the people that she was supposed to "have their back" and have so much in common with.

In some countries, where military service is mandatory, you have to fight some other "tribe" when they tell you to. You do not have to imagine or go back far in history to remember Berlin. Half of it became east and the other west. All of the sudden, the neighbor of yesterday became the enemy of today. All that separated the same people was a wall. But quickly, the color of their passports were changed and they where told they are now enemies.

In California of the USA, there are few gangs, the Bloods and the Crips are two known examples. These are considered a menace to society due to their "criminal activities". The "authorities" are trying to eliminate them due to the danger they present, particularly when conflicts between them erupt and escalate to gun violence. Yet the same authorities have no problem enlisting people to their own gangs, called the branches of service (always must have a catchy name), and sending them 10,000 miles away to fight some other gang with much bigger guns (than those with the gangs) and total destruction of whole countries and millions of casualties. You have to do the latter because you "love your country" (a place you did not even choose) and God is always on our side; but you cannot do the former (join a gang) because "they savagely kill each other"! In one gang you are a criminal and in the other you are a national hero!
